Duck dive surf
Duck diving is an essential skill for surfers to master as it allows them to paddle out beyond the breaking waves without getting pushed back to shore. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to duck dive:

- Spot the wave: Look out for incoming waves and choose the best time to start paddling towards it.
- Paddle hard: Paddle towards the wave as fast as you can to gain momentum.
- As you approach the wave, grab the rails of your board: Reach towards the rails (sides) of your board with your hands.
- Push down on the tail: With your hands on the rails, push down on the tail of your board, lifting the nose of your board up.
- Dive under the wave: Once you have lifted the nose of your board, push your chest down towards the board, and dive under the wave. Use your back foot to push down on the tail of the board to help submerge it under the water.
- Pop back up: As you pass under the wave, use your legs to spring up back onto your board, and start paddling again.
Remember, the key to successful duck diving is timing and momentum. Keep practicing and soon you will be able to paddle out effortlessly without getting pushed back to shore by the waves.
